Progress
It's been an interesting week. After being sick and working late for the past one or two, this week was sunny, pretty and the workload was light and sweet. However, a lot of that lightweight workload is entirely due to my putting in extra time over the past few weeks to ensure I'd have reusable scaffolding to work on. It paid off! The tickets kept leaving my queue within hours of landing there. Makes me feel good about the work I do, purr.

I had to get brackets glued back on. I popped two trying to eat bacon last week. I know, what was I thinking? But I was in a bad place. The sad part is that my teeth feel all tight again! I have this feeling I can only describe as itchy gums where I want to clench and rub my teeth against each other to relieve it. Joe found a quick cure: swishing bourbon around inside your mouth. It is really good at numbing the discomfort! I guess I'm lucky that I'm old enough to be able to use hard liquor to ease my discomfort.

The ortho also told me that, no, a waterpik is not a substitute for flossing, grr.

I've found that lime and strawberry fruit pops and beer make great snacks. Funny, but until now, I was never much for drinking. Now I really enjoy a cold hefe after work when my tummy is rumbling. Combine these treats with playing Twilight Princess, and I've started to notice the poky braces less!

Bikini Woes
Summer is coming, and I want to go swimming, but I have a problem. My boobs won't fit into my old suit. Remember, the one with the boyshorts and the halter top that I loooove so much? Not going to happen unless I'm cool with losing control of the girls during a dive.

So I need to consider a new suit, one meant for girls with large chests and works with my long torso and covers my rampant undergrowth, so to speak. My first thoughts were these, from my favorite American-made Pinup Girl Clothing:
http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/skirted-swimsuit-retro-swimsuit.html (they have a version in leopard, but I always felt that animal prints look a bit tarty, but that's just how I was raised)
http://www.pinupgirlclothing.com/cherry-swimsuit-retro-one-piece.html

I like them both. (Which do YOU like?) And in spite of their high price tags, I know PGC makes high quality pieces that fit the moment you put them on. However, one piece suits are notorious for crawling up your crotch if you're long in the torso.

So that leaves us with bikinis as options (and I'm not a fan of tankinis, fyi) Heres are some nice tops that WILL fit me down to my cup size:
http://www.figleaves.com/us/product.asp?product_id=PM-1122&mci=&size=36ddd/e&colour=&image=r555616-p555864-front (Comes in a turquoise option and is very affordable!)
http://www.figleaves.com/us/product.asp?product_id=FBF-9660&mci=&size=36ddd/e&colour=&image=r361631-p361660-style (This is from Freya, and I already know their bras fit me like a glove, so this should, too! Plus, is on sale.)

The only problem is that all their matching bottoms are way too revealing, and I have no interest in returning to waxing. I'm way too comfortable like I am.

I'm thinking of maybe doing what Leigh suggested once, which is to buy a pair of boy's swim shorts to wear with one of the above mentioned tops. Not sure what to do, but I really want to make use of our complex's pool this spring and summer. It would be good for my body.

Any thoughts? Try the one piece? Get the boy shorts? Know an even better solution?? I'm all ears!

Regarding your swimsuit: is it too much to hope that Freya will have a top that, if not matches your boyshorts from your old suit, then at least coordinates well with it? Maybe a sarong to tie it together?

The one pieces look as though they are meant to be looked at, not used for swimming. And while I prefer the Cherry one of those two, the Freya Soda bikini has my vote. Not even considering how it would look on you, I prefer the lines. I like things, as much as possible, to be simple.]

As far as what you'll look like in any of them, I'm sure you will rock them all very well. And while I'm partial to the Cherry print one-piece, the other one seems more fitting somehow . . . .

I do the man-shorts thing ALWAYS. I'm short in the torso, so I get a tankini top and dude swim bottoms. I just cannot be bothered.

Seconding the motion to find a new top that goes with the old bottoms. Short of that, assuming it can actually be used for swimming, I like the number with the cherry pattern.

PGC makes fantastic stuff that is better fitting and more utilitarian than most of what you'd get at Target. Like their sundresses and cocktails dresses. Man, I can go all day in one of those! I would not be surprised if their suits were just as comfy and easy to get along in. Just in case you were thinking about giving one a shot ;)

Alas, I cannot swim. Even if I could, I wouldn't bare that much skin. ;)

Excuse me If this seems rude but I'm curious.

Can you not swim because you are afraid of the water or have you just never been taught?

I took multiple swim lessons when I was a kid, but to no avail. I have unusually high bone density, and I simply cannot float. I wasn't afraid of water as a kid, but now that I'm older and I've had enough accidents, I've developed a fear of it.

I never had swim listens as a child. My parents just kind of pushed me in the water and let me fend for myself. Sort of traumatic. I think I've almost drowned about three times when I was a child.

I have a cousin who has very dense bones. She would always break her bones doing the most ordinary things such as running up the stairs and breaking her foot. She was a good swimmer though.

Do you go in the shallow end if and when you go to pools? This may sound silly but you could practice at that end and slowly work your way up to deeper depths when you feel ready. Swimming is just all about kicking your legs and making strokes with your arms. If you really want to learn to swim you could always see if there are any classes for adults you could take.

I can see why you are afraid of the water. The idea of drowning is quite unappealing.

P.S.I love your comic.

Wow, I like the mybabyjo red two-piece! Otherwise, just a good top that fits and will co-ordinate with whatever, but not a one piece. Those rarely fit you!

I have the same problem with outgrowing bikini top this year.

I like the boy shorts idea with the bathing suit top that you are sure to rock.

I adore PGC by the way. Hardly anything is made in America these days, well except for peeps.

Also I saw you got your braces on. I'm sorry it must be so painful. I remember when I first got them on I couldn't eat anything solid not even bread. It's a shame you can't eat popcorn as well but, when I got my braces they said I could eat popcorn, I just had to make sure brush real well after.
