Why I am so not doing the big-ass white wedding.

Oh man, that made my blood pressure rise. Telling that girl she was too fat for her dress and all the things she needed to do to fit in it. How about GOING UP A GODDAMN SIZE! I can't imagine that woman was any larger than a size 6 or 8!

But if they do that, then they won't make her all insecure and then there won't be a horrible, exploitative show for people to tune into!

That dress did not fit that girl well. But it had nothing to do with the girl being in any way remotely fat or out of shape and everything to do with her ordering a dress that's too small. I've seen so many girls order a dress a size or so too small to force themselves to lose weight so they can look better when they get married, and it almost always ends with crash diets and expensive emergency dress alterations in the last few weeks before the wedding.

I thought they bought the size too small because it was all that was left in that design. Clothes are tailored to fit people, not vice versa! Hire an f-ing seamstress and stop panicking, jeez.

Or buy a different dress. I mean, they're all white.

...yeah... oodles of work. It'd be a lot less traumatic to go to a freaking seamstress and get it loosened up a bit.

I never liked those wedding shows. They're enough of a production already instead of a meaningful public demonstration of a lifetime commitment. Treated as a freaking party.

Right now, my dream wedding is to marry a Vulcan on the Enterprise with only the crew present and the Captain performing the ceremony. Nice, simple, and then I get cake afterwards.

And a Vulcan husband. <3

Hey, as long as I can have McCoy (my childhood crush) I'll be totally supportive of your inter-species relationship. ;)

Yeah, you can have McCoy. I just want Spock.

Or Leonard Nimoy if he were 50 years younger.

I grew up stating proudly to parents, friends, family, that I was NEVER going to get married. Mostly because of everything that show had. My parents had a very non-traditional wedding, my mom's gown was a coppery brown (I thought it was awesome) and my dad had facial hair (ZOMG THE HORRORS).

Now that I'm with Brian, IF we get married... I'm totally doing a potluck wedding on the beach in casualesque clothes. FUCK weddings.

... Wow. Just wow. I can't believe those conceited bastards telling that gal she was too fat... Preying on someone's insecurities like that just boils my blood.

The "fat" girl looks a bit like "skinny" me. :\

Yeah, if it should happen, potluck on the beach or in a cabin in the woods for a reception. Still want to have the family wedding in the church I went to as a kid, and maybe a little commitment ceremony outside for everyone later on if we can't fit everyone in. Frak Bridezilla.

Big weddings are over rated. All that you need is a few close friends and do a covered dish reception. :) And really if you want to spend money on a cake thats about it. We had our wedding in the back yard of my wife's family yard. Helps that they had a few preachers in the family so that wasn't hard. :) I know there was a lot of work under all that and I don't knock the wonderful cake my mother-inlaw made, (3 tiers) It was all wonderful... too bad I didn't get any videos or more pictures... somewhere. :)

WEll, we live in a consumerist society, and insecurity and false-promises fuel the system.

Advertisers buy and the already insecure or borderline consume the content, and the cylce begins anew, with the WE Channel enabling and profiting.

0.o That was amusing and scary at the same time.
I don't really get weddings I mean how can one day mean so much.

All the weddings that I have been to were pretty high maitnance but are just as lovely as the low maitnance ones. I guess it depends on what you want. Some people want to get married in a park while some people want to get married at Disney World.

It's a bit disturbing how they were making that girl think she is fat and I also wonder if these girls know that the general public is laughing at them.
