We have crossed the 5k threshold.
It's official. We've raised at least $5,000 toward my jaw surgery! Let's see, that either covers the braces or half of the surgery (provided it doesn't involve widening the roof of my mouth). Last I checked tonight, we were at $5,588.04 USD. I still need to use part of that for shirts, but we're over five grand! Wooooo!!! Check out that bar graph!

I think part of today's surge in donations is due to the kind people at Penny and Aggie. Please visit their site and enjoy their high quality comics. Many thanks to them.

This is success beyond my wildest expectations. I sincerely didn't think I'd see more than fifty dollars from this, and I feel so honored and loved for it.

So thank you, thank you, thank you! It's beginning to look more feasible to get this awful thing done. Thank you.

Hi, I'm a Penny and Aggie reader and I think you have a good chance of making this work :)

If I weren't also living from paycheck to paycheck I would love to make a donation, so instead I'm going to post the info on the forum page of Zap! by Chris L. and Pascalle. I'm not sure if Zap! has as many readers as Penny and Aggie, but I hope it helps!

Yay for Penny & Aggie! I was so happy to see that they've put something up on the site. There are a couple of assholes in the forum complaining about the comic space being used to advertise for someone "audacious" enough to ask people to pay for braces that are CLEARLY for a cosmetic purpose. But there's a good amount of us putting them in their places. :D

I would donate, but my money comes from my parents and we already don't have enough. I have to eat on a small amount of money per month. Otherwise, I would be giving you so much.

I couldn't resist replying to 'BorysIwantToHaveYourBaby' even though other people had already done so... "just braces" my arse.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when people complain about things that they aren't being forced to take part in :p

Thanks for standing up for me. I guess they didn't look at the whole thing or see the pictures? I have said it a million times, nobody notices it but me. If it were cosmetic, I wouldn't care, but it hurts me. :( I can't eat carrots sticks anymore. Last time I tried, I had to put my jaw back in place afterward. *shudder*

So don't worry about not being able to donate. Oftentimes I have been in a similar situation, so I completely understand :)

I don't know if this would be worth looking in to, but in some states joining the Graphic Artists' Guild can get you dental insurance through CIGNA DentalCare: http://www.gag.org/benefits/insur.php

The procedures would probably still be really expensive, but maybe not as expensive? I'm not entirely sure myself. Either way, glad to see the drive going so well! Good luck.

I'd be hopeful but for the emails I have received from people with dental insurance who have already assured me that their cross bites were not covered as the procedure is still considered a) cosmetic and b) pre-existing. But who knows, right?

I was kind of surprised by the response I got to the little "incentive" I'm running. I'm going to have a busy weekend drawing stuff for some nice people, and hopefully you'll see a few more dollars soon!

Oh, not at all! I need something to get me back into the habit of drawing, and it's just really encouraging that people actually LIKE what I draw. :D Plus I'm somehow encountering all these really nice strangers.

It's motivating and it's for a good cause (read: your grill)!

I didn't know you had wonky teeth! Good luck with the entire procedure! I'm sending a small bit thru the snail mail.
Every bit counts...like, what if 1,000 people sent in $20?
or 2,000 people sent in $10? or 5000 people sent in the equivalent of the change that's stuck down their couch?
Anyways, I hope you can reach the goal!...THEN comes the hard part.
